Thursday – Stheno #DiabolicalDeeds

My comrade in fiction, Timony Souler, has launched another one of her literary challenges, entitled Diabolical Deeds. This is my piece, inspired by the third prompt.

Stheno Shrugged

“What was left of me but to kill,”

Stheno hissed,

her serpentine mane swelling

in saccadic motion.

“My beauty, ruined,

all for my sister’s loyalty,

she herself, slain

for a man’s honour.”

She approached the mirror

with dread, familiar,

disgusted,

and muttered, sussurant:

“Betrayed by woman,

through man’s ill will.

Christ,

To be born for this…”

She strikes the mirror,

shattering,

shards spread like shrapnel.

She faces me,

and as I turn to stone,

she whispers,

“what was left of me but to kill?”
